Tympanometry measures the degree of eardrum movement. Each ear will have a tiny probe which resembles an earphone inserted by the audiologist. Air will be forced into your ear by a little gadget that is fastened to the probe. The instrument will display a graph, known as a tympanogram, to the person conducting the exam. Your only task is to remain motionless. The audiologist can determine the movement of your eardrum based on the graph's form. If your eardrum moves correctly, is excessively stiff, moves excessively, or has a hole in it, it will be visible. This can assist the audiologist in determining whether you have wax buildup in your ear canal, middle ear fluid, or an eardrum hole. The outer, middle, and inner ear are the three components that make up your ear. It is difficult for sounds to get from your outer ear to your inner ear and brain when you have a middle ear condition. Your audiologist may perform tests to assess the function of your middle ear.
